We recently caught up with Tyrone Grandstrand to ask him why he is a member of the Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals.
YP: Tyrone, you’re involved with a lot of different things – you’re on the City Council and the Metropolitan Planning Organization as well as a board member of the Grand Forks Community Land Trust among several other organizations. Why are you also a member of the Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals (GGFYP)?
Tyrone: I think the energy in GGFYP is part of the reason I do all those other things. It is an organization of people under 40 who realize that we need to turn our focus to making Grand Forks and the surrounding region a better place to live for everyone. We face some real challenges in that regard – there aren’t enough entry-level jobs, and pay for the jobs that do exist is too low. Plus, we see rent and home prices skyrocketing.
